Sometimes we can get caught up in the Springtime/Easter traditions. Are you planning a big family dinner on Sunday with an egg hunt? Have you spent time decorating your house with bunnies, flowers and eggs? Have you been shopping for the perfect dress to wear on Easter Sunday? All of these things are fun and great, but don’t let it distract from the real meaning of Easter.
Why Call it Good Friday?
This is Easter weekend and today is Good Friday. Why do we call it Good Friday? Friday is the day that Christ was beatened and put to death on the cross. It doesn’t sound like a good day. However; as Christians, we know it was necessary. We believe that Jesus suffered on this day because of us. He gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. None of us are “good” enough to spend eternity in heaven on our own merits, but if we believe that He died for our sins and ask Him for forgiveness, we have salvation! That is true love!
Easter – Celebration Sunday!
Easter Sunday is a celebration! After three days in a tomb, Sunday is the day that Jesus rose again! This is so important. We serve a risen Savior!
It is my prayer that if you haven’t experienced the love of Christ and the salvation only He can give, that you would experience it this weekend. There’s no better way to celebrate Easter!
