I have what some may call a pretty big sweet tooth, okay – a very big sweet tooth. I eat far too few fruits & vegetables, and, undoubtedly, way too many sugars & carbohydrates. I am a perfect candidate for a cleanse.
I recently did the Beyond Organic SueroViv 3-Day Cleanse. For those not familiar with SueroViv:
SueroViv is a whole food cultured whey beverage containing, probiotics, enzymes, electrolyte minerals, B vitamins, and essential oils – an extraordinarily healthy beverage.
The Suero Cleanse is designed to support the body’s natural cleansing and detoxification systems and help you reach a higher level of health. Whey water has a great effect on the 3 main detox systems – liver, kidneys, and GI.
Why Do A Cleanse?
Perhaps the motivation for doing the cleanse in the first place wasn’t the purest. There were two primary reasons I embarked on this 3-day “journey” – my skepticism and competitiveness.
My wife, Teresa, is a healthy living blogger and I wanted to, through my own personal experience, either validate or reject what I had heard about the benefits of doing a cleanse. Perhaps you could classify me as a “supportive,” yet sometimes skeptical husband.
Secondly, a good friend of ours had completed the 3-day cleanse and I wanted to “replicate” (if not one-up) her efforts. As you may guess, I’m very competitive and my mindset was, “If she can do it, I can do it!”
Nevertheless, regardless of my motivation(s), I woke up on a Tuesday morning and decided on the spur-of-the-moment to take the challenge. I did not cheat – not even a little bit.
The SueroViv Cleanse
For each of the 3-days, I had the SueroViv (raspberry lemonade flavor) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – with an additional bottle during the mid-afternoon or early evening. While I did miss my grilled cheese sandwiches during lunch and my evening hit of ice cream, two benefits were immediate and unmistakable:
- For each of the three days during the cleanse, I had noticeably more energy in the afternoon. I wasn’t overly tired and exhausted as the clock chimed 2:00 PM.
- I lost 4.5 pounds. This was really an added bonus. I didn’t do the cleanse to lose weight. I did it to feel better and have more energy – losing weight was just an ancillary benefit.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I did get a little hungry towards the end of the second day. By day three, however, and sensing the “finish line” I felt pretty good and the hunger had substantially dissipated.
Once I finished the 3-day cleanse, I was a little worried about reintroducing food back into the diet. I started with a hard-boiled egg but launched right back into my normal routine immediately thereafter.
So there you have it – my first-hand experience doing a cleanse! My increased energy and loss of weight made it all worth-while. Now when my wife preaches about the benefits of doing a cleanse, I can chime in and confirm that the additional probiotics and electrolytes found in SueroViv have great health benefits.
Happy cleansing!
