It’s December! Just a couple of weeks before Christmas! Are you stressed out yet? I know this can be a busy time of the year for everyone, but we have to remember to keep stress in check. I know that can be easier said than done, but too much stress can be toxic to our bodies.
There are ways in which we can minimize stress both physically and emotionally, but have you ever thought of scheduling a visit to a chiropractor to help relieve stress?
I have been to a few chiropractors in my day. I started going in November 2004. Why do I remember the exact month? It was on election day!
My back totally gave out on me. I remember getting ready for work in the morning. I bent over to put my slacks on and down I went, in excruciating pain. I had never experienced pain like that before and fortunately have never since. I could barely crawl across the floor to get my phone to call my roommate who was upstairs.
Fortunately, I was able to see a chiropractor that day. After that first visit, I came away in less pain, but it took a couple of additional visits before I could stand completely straight. I remember going to vote after the visit wearing a back brace. I had to hold onto my dad and boyfriend so I could stand up while we waited in line to vote. If it wasn’t for the chiropractor, I don’t know what I would have done.
I have mentioned in previous posts that I didn’t used to handle stress well. (I still don’t handle stress too well, but at least I’m better at it than I used to be). Because of that, stress wreaked havoc on my body. My back totally going out was one way the stress was taking its toll. In addition to my back, I also ended up severely draining my adrenals.
What Can Stress Do to Your Body?
According to Dr. Foote of the Nashville Spine and Sport Chiropractic Center, “Stress can drain your adrenal glands which will cause a decrease of energy. It can raise blood pressure. It can lead to depression, It can trigger headaches and migraines and much more.”
He goes onto explain how a chiropractic adjustment can help. “By having your body in alignment you are allowing bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves to be in a neutral state where they are not restricted . The body is able to communicate and heal at a faster and more efficient rate. It is easy to tell a patient to “not stress out” however it is hard to accomplish that. We need to learn ways to decrease stress in our life: regular exercise, healthy organic foods, alignment of your body and a lot of laughter.”
In order to decrease stress all year round, make sure to do the recommended items that Dr. Foote suggests!
Visit a Chiropractor for Stress Reduction
I have gone to a chiropractor for a number of years now. The visits have not only kept my back from going out on me again, but they have also kept my whole body in alignment helping it to heal. I am grateful for my chiropractor and highly recommend chiropractic care for a natural alternative.
