Indoor air quality is so important! However, according to the EPA, indoor air quality can be seriously more polluted than outdoor air. That seems crazy when you think of all of the outdoor air pollution we encounter today. However, the amount of harmful chemicals and other materials in a home can create havoc. How much time do you spend at home, or in an indoor work or school environment? Research indicates that people spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors. That’s a lot of time being exposed to toxins. With all of the chemicals that we’re encountering and the amount of time we spend indoors, it’s so important to take steps to minimize our exposure.
Toxins are Negatively Impacting Indoor Air Quality
There are a host of toxins that our indoor environment can house. Some examples are mold, methanol, nitrous oxide, ammonia, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, pollen, formaldehyde and other VOCs (volatile organic chemicals).
These chemicals can emit from many indoor items such as new furniture, carpet, cleaning chemicals, paint, and the list can go on. Many of the chemicals that we’re being exposed to can cause multiple health challenges – anywhere from Asthma and allergies to hormone disruption and cell damage.
Living with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity is a Challenge
I have experienced chronic health issues from different toxic exposures. One of the conditions I developed was MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity). MCS affects the central nervous system. It’s much more than an allergic reaction. Personally, I don’t even like it being compared to an allergy. Even a minuscule amount of a chemical can cause severe reactions for someone with MCS.
Over the past few years, I have had the challenge of trying to overcome MCS. I’m a ton better today than I once was, but there are still times that some chemicals can give me reactions, especially if I’m in a toxic indoor environment for too long. As someone who has lived with MCS, my home needs to be a “safe” environment for me. I have made many changes over the years to combat indoor toxins. In addition, I am always on the lookout for companies who are aware of MCS and are either offering products that don’t include toxic chemicals, or are offering products to help combat pesky toxins.
EnvrioKlenz to the Rescue!
I recently learned of a company called EnviroKlenz which not only understands MCS, but was actually created by the inspiration and feedback of those living with environmental illnesses. During the development of their product line, they “worked meticulously with MCS influencers, environmentalists, and support groups as they diligently tested every possible combination for the safest and most effective applications possible.” Their business was ultimately created to help improve the air quality of each and every customer. To say that I’m thankful for companies like this is an understatement! Minimizing toxins is not only life saving to those of us with MCS, but it is better for everyone.
I love EnviroKlenz’s motto: “Clean Has No Odor”. EnviroKlenz products are neutralizers. They use a patented earth mineral technology. When it comes in “contact with a toxic smell or chemical compound, they actively and safely neutralize the harmful compounds without the use of masking agents or toxic chemicals. Odors are completely eliminated, and irritants are totally removed from the air (all without any unnecessary fragrances or perfumes.)” All of their products have no fragrances, no toxic chemicals, and no additional compounds released into the atmosphere. Their products provide safe, effective neutralization of allergy- and sensitivity-offending triggers.
I recently was given an EnviroKlenz HVAC filter to try on our furnace. The filter captures and destroys harmful compounds, chemicals and odors rather than trapping particulates like traditional HVAC and HEPA filters. The filter does not utilize carbon nor does it release any chemicals or masking agents back into your environment.
Being the time of the year that it is in Ohio, I have been able to use the filter when running both our furnace and air conditioner a few times. I noticed a faint smell the first couple of times running the new filter in the furnace, but it went away within a couple of days. Mind you, I keep our home environment as chemical-free as possible. I also run an air purifier. Even with those things in place, I believe cleaning our air through the HVAC is a huge help. As I’m able to run the HVAC for a longer period of time, I’m going to be anxious to see positive changes in our indoor air quality. I’m also so excited to try some of the other products which EnviroKlenz provides, especially their laundry enhancer which eliminates odors and perfumes. I haven’t been able to buy new/used clothes in years. This would be a game changer for me! Better warn my husband – I might be going on a shopping spree:)! In addition to their products, I also recommend reading through their blog. They provide great information about air quality and minimizing toxins.
As I always preach, it’s so important to limit your exposure to toxins. EnviroKlenz is one product which will help you do just that.

I used the Enviroklenz HVAC filter for 2 weeks. The odor emitted by the filter was nauseating. Even though the filter has been out of my system for 2 months, the odor is still in the ductwork. I have to use large air cleaners to be able to breathe comfortably. This filter was a total waste of money!

Sorry to hear about your experience. I noticed a faint smell in the beginning of using the filter, but it went away within a couple of days. I don’t think it normally lasts as long as you mention. You should let EnvironKlenz know.
