 Do You Know GMO?

One could argue that we are in the midst of a food crisis. Much of the conventional food we purchase each day is made with GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) ingredients. In fact, it’s estimated that approximately 80% – 90% of processed food is genetically modified.  Tune in on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM (ET) to VoiceAmerica’s Living Natural Today: Out with Toxins, In with Your Health, as as I interview greater Detroit area executive director for No GMO 4 Michigan, Zachary Schafer as he shares information about all things GMO, including why it was introduced into our food system in the mid 1990’s. He will also discuss potential health risks associated with GMOs, how we can avoid GMOs, high-risk GMO foods and GMO labeling laws – or the lack thereof. This episode is sure to open your eyes and may very well leave you questioning if we are, indeed, in the midst of a food crisis.

Do You Know GMO? — Episode #6 Preview 2

Zachary Schafer, greater Detroit area executive director for No GMO 4 Michigan, is at the forefront of the movement to raise awareness of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food. Throughout his two years as executive director, he has helped grow the metro Detroit membership to almost 800, the most in the state. Zach has led the two March against Monsanto events in downtown Detroit. He truly enjoys informing the public about GMOs, our right to know what is in our food – and how we can eat healthier. He has been a vegetarian for 10 years and a vegan for 1 year. Both his kids are vegetarians as well.
