We’ve all heard the conventional wisdom when it comes to keeping your mouth healthy – brush your teeth, use mouthwash, and floss. But these products often contain chemicals that some people are not comfortable using in their mouths. Or maybe you just want to take extra steps, besides the ones prescribed by your dentist.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways that you can keep your mouth healthy and clean by using all-natural methods.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started.
Natural Ways to Keep Your Mouth Healthy
Do A Salt Water Rinse
A salt water rinse is a great way to clean out your mouth.
Mixing a few pinches of salt with some warm water, and then swishing it around in your mouth, helps to remove some of the bacteria inside. Do this at least once a day for around 30 seconds each time. The taste isn’t going to be pleasant, but the 30 seconds will go by quickly.
After you do it for a couple of days, you’ll start to get used to the taste. Just remember not to swallow the salt water mixture, as drinking salty water can be harmful.
Add More Green Tea to Your Diet
There are several health benefits associated with drinking green tea. However, some of the benefits that are often overlooked are the benefits it provides to your mouth.
Different studies have been produced about the effect of green tea on oral health, and they provide some positive results. For instance, according to WebMD, one study suggested that rinsing with green tea can help your teeth from eroding. Another study showed it might prevent starchy foods, such as cracks, from causing decay.
So the next time you’re at the store, pick up some natural green tea and start introducing more of it to your daily routine.
Use an Oral Irrigator
One of the most common suggestions for oral health is flossing. But the flossing strands sold in stores often have different chemicals worked into them, and you may not want to use these.
As an alternative, consider using an oral irrigator. An oral irrigator uses water pressure to force out anything stuck between your teeth, much the same way floss would. However, instead of using floss, you just have to use the water you put into the irrigator.
So, if you don’t like flossing, or if you don’t want to use the floss that’s available to you, get yourself an oral irrigator.
Get a Tongue Cleaner
Even if you’re rinsing your mouth out every day, drinking more green tea, and using an oral irrigator, you may still find some bacteria built up on your tongue.
These bacteria aren’t great for your health and can cause you to have bad breath.
To get rid of them you’ll want to get yourself a tongue cleaner. These U-shaped devices are typically made out of metal and you scrape them along your tongue to get rid of any buildup. Since there are no chemicals involved, it’s completely natural, you just have to make sure to clean off your tongue cleaner after each use.

Focus on Developing Healthy Habits
Doing any of the above one time won’t do you much good. If you really want to keep your mouth healthy and clean, you need to turn them into a habit.
Try setting up a routine where you perform one or all of the tasks mentioned above at the same time. Mark off on a calendar when you did them, and try not to miss any days. The longer you go, the quicker you’ll turn it into a habit. Once it’s a habit, doing these things will become less of a chore, and more of an automatic thing you do.
You should also make it a habit to regularly get to the dentist. According to Precision Dentistry, “many Periodontal conditions are completely preventable and treatable with regular cleaning and checkups.”
So even if you’re doing all of the above, schedule a visit with your dentist just to make sure everything is in good condition.
Finally, pay attention to your other healthy habits. Your mouth doesn’t operate separately from the rest of your body.
By doing things like eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep, you can help to keep your mouth healthier. Your body needs these things to fight off infections, and your mouth is no different in this regard.
So while you’re focusing on your oral health, be sure to give some attention to the rest of your body as well.
Cleaning Your Mouth Naturally
As you can see, there are plenty of ways that you can keep your mouth healthy by using natural solutions.
Ideally, you would combine the above methods with methods prescribed by your dentist. Doing so would help you to avoid things like cavities and root canals and set you up with healthy habits that will benefit you for years to come.

I don’t go to the dentist as often as required. I try to keep my mouth clean and healthy by brushing and gargling. It’s my first time knowing about a tongue cleaner. I usually just use the back small bumps on the back of my toothbrush to scrape the surface of my tongue. I will consider purchasing a tongue cleaner.
