I have been living a natural lifestyle for many years. At first, it was a little overwhelming because I felt there was a lot to learn, but as time went on, natural living became second nature. I never look back to what I use to do because I’m so much better off today.
How Do you Change to a Natural Lifestyle?
You may be asking yourself the question, how do I change to a natural lifestyle? Natural living encompasses many different areas of your life, so it is quite easy to begin changing to a natural lifestyle.
Some of the things you can begin to do are:
- Focus on a particular room in your home
- Focus on your diet
- Focus on the environment
- Focus on whatever area interests you, or where you need room for improvement
Become educated. Learn to read labels. Do your research. Know which chemicals to avoid, but don’t get hung up on that. Knowing the harmful effects of every ingredient can be very overwhelming. Stick to remembering a few ingredients that you want to avoid.
Learn about natural living brands you can trust, or look for DIY recipes online.
Don’t make it a chore to start making changes. Have fun with it!
There are many ways you can begin to change to a more natural lifestyle.
Your Natural Living Journey Can Be as Easy as ABC
Natural living takes some work, but it initially is as easy as A, B, C. Consider each letter as a phase in your journey. Let’s take a look at what that means.
A – Acknowledge
You first need to acknowledge that changes need to be made. If you’re reading this article, you’re someone who knows that there might be some things in your life that need to be changed.
It might be ditching those chemical-filled products you put on your skin every day, or it might be getting rid of the daily pop/soda you drink. Whatever the case, the first step on the natural living journey is to acknowledge that changes need to be made.
B – Take Baby Steps
This is an important step. Switching to a natural lifestyle doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t happen quickly. The more you learn about harmful chemicals in products, the more you will want to make additional changes.
Initially, it is important to just get started. Take the first step and try something! Babies have to crawl before they run. In between, they have to put one foot in front of the other and take many baby steps before they feel comfortable standing on their own without holding onto something and then ultimately running.
That’s where you will be when you start out. It is important to take your first step, then continue to take some more until you’re running on your own.
During the baby step phase, lean on resources such as this website, or people in natural living Facebook groups. Ask questions until you feel comfortable making a change.
This is also the phase where you will try different things. Try removing and replacing items in your home. You can start by purchasing a non-toxic product such as dryer balls to replace toxic dryer sheets. Find a product brand you like and trust.
If you don’t want to research different product brands, try making the product yourself.
Whether you buy a product or make it yourself, there are different options for your comfort level.
C – Make a Commitment
This phase will propel you! Make a commitment to continue on this journey. Keep at it and keep pressing forward. Believe me, once you start making changes, you will notice a difference and will want to keep going. You will notice how your health or the health of a family member was positively impacted by what you did.
Are you having fewer headaches? Are your allergies getting better? Are you sleeping better? Those are some of the symptoms you can begin to notice. However, there are other things that you may not notice right away, but know that the changes you are making can impact your health for the future.
Make a commitment to keep going. Maybe you want to go through each room of your home to remove and replace items. If you like deadlines, give yourself a deadline to get each room done. If you don’t like deadlines, then just make the changes when you’re able. A natural lifestyle shouldn’t be stressful. Customize it to what you want it to be.
Another area you should make a commitment is saving money for the bigger ticket items, such as an organic mattress. An organic mattress is something that is very beneficial, but it can cost a considerable amount of money. If you are in the market for a mattress, begin saving money so you can purchase a safe mattress which will benefit you for years to come.
It’s important to stay committed to your natural living journey so you can keep moving forward. You will always be learning. There will always be something to be on the lookout for. It’s just the way our world is currently. Things are constantly changing. Additional chemicals are being introduced and new products come on the market. You should always keep abreast of toxic potentials.
D – Do It!
I’m adding a fourth phase on this journey. This overarches everything – just DO IT! Natural living is so important that you need to just do it.
Believe me, you will not regret living a natural lifestyle!
