Top 5 Home Remedies to Whiten Your Teeth Naturally

There is always a reason to smile!

This rings true especially if you’re having fun, but if you have yellowish, plague-laden teeth; would you still be willing to bear a smile for all the world to see? I’d run to the nearest dental clinic if I were you! But don’t fret, all hope is not lost! Even if you don’t have easy access to a dental clinic or if your wallet screams ‘help’ whenever you’re deliberating on visiting a dentist, you can actually use home remedies to naturally whiten your teeth.

Most people have jumped on the bandwagon and are swapping their synthetic solutions to more sustainable, healthy, safe, and natural remedies.

I would steer clear of whitening products that contain artificial chemicals because God forbid, they just simply ruin your teeth in the long run and we all know how a beautiful smile can brighten one’s day, so the former is definitely out of the question!

Opting for home remedies to whiten your teeth naturally is not a fool’s errand. All you have to do is rummage through some of the things lying around your house and you’re all set! Here are the top 5 ways to whiten your teeth naturally.

Home Remedies to Whiten Teeth Naturally

1. Naturally Whiten Teeth with Baking Soda

I’m sure we’ve all heard of the magical powers of baking soda and its natural whitening properties. A commercial toothpaste has baking soda in it but is that enough?

If you want to up your game and if you want full concentration effect of baking soda on your teeth, you can mix one teaspoon of baking soda into two teaspoons of water and brush with your normal toothpaste.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

I only learned about apple cider vinegar a few years ago (I know, where have I been?). It’s not only good for cleansing your digestive system but because of its acetic acid, it kills bacteria in your mouth and whitens your teeth at the same time! Talk about hitting two birds with one stone!

3. Hydrogen Peroxide

You must be thinking of how desperate one is to use hydrogen peroxide, but it’s actually a natural bleaching agent that gradually whitens your teeth over time. However, using this in concentrated form as a mouthwash isn’t recommended, so it’s best to consult a dentist for the allowed mixture before calling the shots yourself. Taking a trip to the dentist twice a year is essential anyway.

4. Powdered Charcoal Can Be Used to Naturally Whiten Teeth

Ironic, isn’t it? Charcoal is pitch-black, why would it whiten your teeth? It’s said that activated charcoal removes toxins when they mix with it and are then expelled by the digestive system.

In short, brushing your teeth with powdered charcoal and letting it sit for two minutes can remove toxins and stains on your teeth, making it radiantly white!

5. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables have natural whitening ingredients that definitely give your smile a little oomph. Strawberries, oranges, pineapples, celery, carrots, yogurt, and cheese are just a few examples!
