I have been given this product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.
Our bodies are incredible. Every system works together and when one system is off, it can wreak havoc for us. As I’ve been on my health journey for many years, I’ve learned different things along the way. For instance, the health of our gut and our brain both play a huge role in our overall health. If either of those are “off”, it can jeopardize our health. Also, our body has an innate ability to heal itself if we give it what it needs. In addition, you can even rewire your brain!
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity – A Physiological Response
For many years now, I have dealt with a condition called Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. As my body has continued to heal, I have gotten better with my MCS symptoms, but to this day certain exposures, depending on the amount of time I am exposed, or depending on the state of health my body is in at the time, MCS symptoms can flair up. MCS is a neurological disorder caused by conditioned trauma in the amygdala and insula. Toxins affect our nerve system – the parts of our brain that have memory. We release certain chemicals to survive or adapt. Certain toxins can drive inflammation over time. Our nerve system remembers this inflammation pattern so as soon as we are exposed to the smallest amount of a chemical, or the smallest little smell, for example, it goes through the same release of chemicals, similar to if you were in a fight or flight situation. It is a true physiological response.
The Gupta Programme: Rewire Your Brain
Throughout my research of MCS, I have come across people who have mentioned The Gupta Programme and how it had helped them, so I was excited to look into it for myself. The Gupta Programme is a treatment available anywhere in the world. The clinic is based in Central London with practitioners and coaches all over the world. Ashok Gupta is the Clinic Director and online trainer. The Gupta Programme is geared for those suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivitiy, anxiety disorders, or other pain syndromes. Ashok, himself had suffered with ME/CFS and extreme anxiety for 3 years. He was able to recover and now helps others do the same.
The program consists of 12 weekly live group coaching webinars (which are also recorded), and a DVD home study coarse. The hard copy DVD and book are mailed to you after the weekly coaching begins.
I was unable to listen in live to the coaching webinars, so I was glad they were recorded. I enjoyed listening to Ashok as he spoke during the sessions. He has a pleasant and empathetic personality. He understands what those who are participating in the program are going through since he was there himself.
Ashok covers a lot of information during each session. He explains that we can have an over defensive response in our brain which can be switched off by repetitive actions. I like his analogy that the malfunctioning response is a software problem, not a hardware problem. Along with the beneficial information that he shares, he also walks you through techniques to retrain your brain. Eventhough all of the information that he provides can be a little overwhelming, he does break it down into the most important things you need to do each day. That way it’s not so overwhelming.
I also liked the fact that he offers additional trainings and tips throughout the 12 weeks. For example, there is a gut/brain connection in regards to the balance of bacteria and driving inflammation, so it’s also important to address gut issues. He mentions some of the foods which can cause additional inflammation.
Commit to the Program
Overall, Ashok suggests that those going through the program commit to it for 6 months and only focus on the hypothesis and tools that the program provides during that time – don’t get distracted by other treatments while you participate in this.
If you are suffering with conditions such as MCS, chronic fatigue, pain syndromes, or anxiety, I recommend trying The Gupta Programme in addition to making other positive lifestyle changes, such as minimizing toxins and eating a clean diet. I am grateful to Ashok and others who have gone through these debilitating conditions and are now helping others overcome them too.
