8 Toxic Skin Care Ingredients Everyone Should Avoid

Are you using toxic skin care products? Have you ever stopped to look at the ingredients in your skincare products? Many skin care products are hosts to different toxic ingredients!

Our skin is our largest organ. It is also permeable and absorbs approximately 60 percent of what we apply. Once absorbed, it enters our bloodstream and is distributed throughout the body.

Think about the soap, lotion, deodorant or makeup you applied this morning. It doesn’t just sit on your skin – it is ultimately absorbed. You may not experience any immediate health ramifications, but as you go through the same routine each and every day, those chemicals slowly accumulate in your body.

Skin care products might be advertised as being beneficial and nourishing for your skin. However, the ingredients used in those products can be doing more harm than good.

Some of the toxic chemicals in products can contribute to various health-related issues such as hormonal imbalance, reproductive health problems, asthma, and even cancer. Instead of nourishing your skin, these chemicals can create numerous disruptions to your overall health.

In the infographic below, Dr. Mercola and his team do a great job of highlighting specific toxic ingredients that may be lurking in your skincare products. They list where the ingredients may be found and the health ramifications that can happen when these ingredients accumulate in your body.

The infographic mentions everything from parabens and phthalates to triclosan and propylene glycol.

I always give people the same advice as what Dr. Mercola mentions below – if you cannot pronounce an ingredient, it’s best to keep away from it. I encourage you to heed that recommendation and minimize toxins in the products that you use daily.

Be sure to be on the lookout for the following toxic skin care ingredients:

Your skin is your largest organ, and anything you put on it should contain only the best and safest ingredients from nature.

So before slathering lotion or body wash on your skin, take a look at this infographic on toxic chemicals found in personal care products. Discover these common yet deadly chemicals and how they can potentially sabotage your health and well-being.

Non-Toxic Skin Care

Instead of buying harmful skin care products, why not try making your own DIY products with nourishing ingredients.
