White vinegar has been praised as a kitchen essential, but its powers go on further than that. If you are looking for an affordable, safe household cleaner, white vinegar is a great solution. You’ll be amazed by how much it can do.
Uses of White Vinegar at Home
Most white vinegar is made from the fermentation of grain alcohol. It is commonly used in marinades, pickling, salads, sauces, baking, and even cheesemaking. It has a strong flavor that on its own is not good, but can work well in many dishes.
However, outside of the kitchen white vinegar has many uses. Thanks to its acidic power, it is capable of doing much more than just making foods taste good.
Automatic Coffee Maker Cleaner
Most people wake up in the morning and enjoy a nice cup of hot coffee to start off the day. However, over time your coffee maker can build up grime. White vinegar can safely be used to regularly clean your coffee maker.
Simply fill the reservoir with white vinegar and run the coffee maker as you normally would. Once finished, dump out the vinegar and repeat the process with water. This will help clean out any oily buildup or minerals that have formed.
Add Sparkle to Your Dishes and Glasses
If you’re hosting a party, you want your dishes and glasses to sparkle. However, sometimes regular dish soap just isn’t enough. Fortunately, white vinegar can give your dishes and glasses a flawless shine.
For beautiful, sparkling dishes and glasses, add two cups of white vinegar to the bottom of your dishwasher. Wash on a regular cycle with your normal dish soap. You’ll be amazed at the difference you see afterward.
Microwave Cleaner
Over time, microwaves can easily build up with bits of food. This can make your microwave greasy, grimy, and smelly. With just a small bit of white vinegar, you can easily clean your microwave.
Microwave one cup of water with ¼ cup of white vinegar until steam begins to form. Wipe away any food bits and your microwave will be like new again.
Multi-Purpose Cleaner
White vinegar can make a great multi-purpose cleaner. It can be used on kitchen counters, sinks, stovetops, toilets, floors, tubs, and windows.
By combining one part water and one part vinegar, you can easily clean many surfaces of your house. It will remove grease, grime, dirt, and stuck-on food.
Stain Remover
Unfortunately, stains can happen to your favorite clothes. Some stain removers can be harsh on sensitive skin. Luckily, you can use white vinegar to successfully remove stains.
Apply the white vinegar directly to your stain and wash as normal. It can be used to remove anything from sweat stains to red wine.
Weed Killer
If you have your own garden, you know weeds can be very annoying. They can get in the way of the flowers, fruits, and vegetables you are trying to grow. White vinegar can safely be used to eliminate unwanted weeds.
Combine one gallon of white vinegar with one cup of salt and one tablespoon of dish soap. It is most effective at killing weeds when applied on warm, sunny days.
Bug Spray
When it comes to summer, bugs can be a constant nuisance. They can cause itchy irritating bites and seek shelter in your house.
Spiders, ants, and flies can be a big problem in people’s houses. Spraying solution that is one part water and one part white vinegar along doors and windows can help keep these annoying pests out.
White Vinegar: A Must-Have Household Essential
From cooking, cleaning, stain removing, and bug repellent, white vinegar is a must-have household essential. It is safe to use and won’t break the bank. Give these uses of white vinegar a try around your home in place of using harmful chemicals.
